Chiltern Hills Academy is on the World Interactive Map of Climate Change Teachers!
Mr Humphrey. Geography teacher, has successfully completed a United Nations-accredited course devoted to one of the most pressing issues facing the world today.
An interactive online map showing Chiltern Hills Academy placed on the world’s First Interactive Map of UN Climate Change Teachers has been launched, as part of the Lord Mayor’s London Climate Action Week (https://www.unccteacheracademy.com/map/). The aim is to highlight the need for a Climate Change Teacher in Every School in the UK. The new Climate Change Teacher Course enables teachers to encourage and generate social innovation, and prepare today’s youth to protect the planet.
Students at Chiltern Hills will soon learn from an official climate change teacher and is one of the first schools in the country to have a United Nations Accredited teacher.
Mr Humphrey undertook the course as he was inspired by the classes he taught. “The thirst for knowledge and the desire of the students to take action was unbelievable. Climate change is the most defining issue of our time and we are at a defining moment. Education is the key.”
The school is now able to deliver up to date and relevant information to the students on the subject. This was only Phase 1 of the project and Mr Humphrey is looking forward to what Phase 2 and Phase 3 brings.
