Student Voice

The Student Voice is a vibrant body made up of representatives of all years who meet fortnightly, chaired by Sixth for students and supported by the Head students too.

Student Voice Reps are appointed at the start of each academic year, those from prior years can continue with their involvement and participation if they so wish. Being a member shows that the student is a responsible and reliable student, who is willing to take responsibility for the decisions made. Students listen to their peers and feedback their points and ideas during meetings.

They are consulted whenever major decisions are taken by the school, for example during this past academic year students have put forward the idea of houses to SLT. This will now be implemented from September 2023. In the Summer term of 2023 students interviewed candidates for the new vice principal roles.

Student Voice is considered to be a vital element of the school’s management structure.

Students who would like to be a rep put themselves forward. The other people in the class, including the tutor and AYL, then vote for the 2 students they would like to represent them.

Once the team have been selected we create an overview of what they feel needs improving throughout the school. During the first meeting the overview is fed back and the head students put together a year long agenda for the student voice meetings.

Y7 students are voted in at a later date to give everyone a chance to get to know each other.
