Online Safety

At Chiltern Hills Academy, we want every student to enjoy the benefits of the online world safely and responsibly. The internet is an amazing tool for learning, connecting and creating—but it also comes with risks. That’s why we teach our students how to make good choices online and why we ask parents and carers to join us in reinforcing safe habits at home.

Our values of honesty, respect and self-discipline guide how we use technology. Being kind, responsible and thoughtful online is just as important as it is face to face.

Staying Safe Online

Here are some simple but important reminders we share with our students:

  • Think before you post. Once something is online, it’s very hard to remove completely.
  • Be respectful. Treat others kindly in emails, messages and on social media—even when you disagree. Strong or offensive language is never acceptable.
  • Protect yourself. Never share personal details with people you don’t know and never arrange to meet someone you’ve only spoken to online.
  • Check attachments. Only open files or links from people you trust. Viruses and scams can damage your device and put your information at risk.
  • Respect rights. Always credit the work of others and follow copyright laws.

Online safety is a shared responsibility. At CHA, we provide students with guidance through lessons, assemblies and pastoral support, while parents and carers play a vital role in continuing these conversations at home.

To make this easier, we have gathered a selection of trusted websites and resources that provide practical advice on everything from parental controls to supporting conversations about relationships, gaming and online bullying.

Resources for Families

We’ve brought together trusted websites with practical advice on how to support young people online:
