Healthy Travel to School

At Chiltern Hills Academy we encourage our students to travel in ways that are healthy, safe and considerate to others. Choosing how to get to school isn’t just about convenience — it’s also about promoting wellbeing, protecting the environment and showing respect for our wider community.

Cycling to School

We have plenty of bike storage on site and warmly encourage students to cycle. It’s a great way to stay active and start the school day with energy.

To keep everyone safe, students will need a signed Cycle to School Permit, which can be collected from Student Services. We ask that all cyclists wear helmets, follow the Highway Code and lock their bikes securely.

Travelling by Car

We know that for some families travelling by car is the most practical option. If you are dropping off or collecting your child, please help us keep our site and local roads safe by following these guidelines:

  • Avoid congestion: The roads around the Academy can get busy. If possible, drop off or pick up a short distance away to reduce traffic at the gates.
  • No on-site drop-offs: Our car parks cannot be used for student drop-off or collection, except in the case of the four designated bays for students with disabilities.
  • Please switch off engines: Idling vehicles produce harmful fumes that affect children’s lungs, contribute to allergies and increase air pollution. Turning off your engine helps keep the air cleaner for everyone.
  • Respect our neighbours: Please do not block or obstruct local driveways.
  • Park safely: Always park with care for other road users and pedestrians. Avoid parking on pavements, as this can force students into the road.
