Student Voice

At Chiltern Hills Academy, we believe every student should feel heard and valued. Our Student Voice gives pupils across all year groups the chance to share their views, influence decisions, and play an active role in shaping school life.

How it works

  • Representatives from every year group are elected at the start of the academic year. Students can continue their involvement in future years if they wish.
  • Meetings are held every two weeks, chaired by Sixth Form students and supported by our Head Students.
  • Reps listen to their classmates, bring ideas forward, and share feedback with staff and senior leaders.

Why it matters

Student Voice is more than just a forum – it’s a vital part of how we run our school. Our students:

  • Provide input on key decisions, such as the introduction of the House System in September 2024.
  • Take part in recruitment processes – for example, they interviewed candidates for our Vice Principal roles in 2023.
  • Help to create a year-long agenda, ensuring their priorities and suggestions are built into school planning.

Principal Insight

As a Student Voice representative, you’ll have the chance to share ideas, represent your classmates and help make a positive difference across the Academy. Along the way, you’ll develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills while gaining valuable experience for your future.

Any student can put themselves forward to be a representative. Classes then vote for two students who they feel will best share their views. Year 7 pupils are elected later in the year, giving them time to settle in and get to know one another.

Being a Student Voice representative is an important responsibility. It shows a student is trusted, respected, and ready to help lead positive change within our school community.
