House System
At Chiltern Hills Academy, our House System brings our school community together, fostering teamwork, leadership, and a healthy sense of competition. Introduced in 2024/25, the system gives every student and member of staff the chance to belong to one of our seven Houses, each proudly named after an inspirational figure who reflects one of our Academy’s core values.
Students wear their House colours on their ties, creating a strong sense of identity and pride. Throughout the year, our Houses compete in a wide variety of events – from sport and the arts to academic challenges and community activities – celebrating achievement in every area of school life.

Student Leadership
House Captains, chosen from Year 10, play a key role in leading their peers and supporting the organisation of events. Working alongside staff, they help ensure that the House System provides opportunities for all students to contribute, have fun, and excel.
Recent Highlights
- Mandela House proudly won the very first House Cup in December 2024.
- Turing House were our most recent winners in the spring term.
We look forward to more exciting competitions after Easter as Houses continue to earn points and strive for the annual House Cup.

How to Earn House Points
Students can contribute to their House in a wide range of ways, making every effort and success count. Points are awarded for:
- Academic effort and progress – working hard in lessons and achieving personal goals.
- Achievement – celebrating excellence in classwork, homework, and assessments.
- Participation – joining in school events, clubs, and extra-curricular activities.
- Attendance and punctuality – showing commitment to school life.
- Community spirit – demonstrating kindness, respect, and support for others.
- Competitions – taking part in House events such as sports, arts, quizzes, and charity activities.
Every point matters, and every contribution helps build pride in belonging to a House.
House: Luther King – Love
Martin Luther King Jr. promoted peace, equality, and justice, demonstrating the power of love for humanity.
House: Malala – Honesty
Malala Yousafzai’s commitment to truth and integrity inspires us to stand up for what is right.
House: Mandela – Respect
Nelson Mandela embodied respect through his lifelong fight for justice, equality, and reconciliation.
House: Nightingale – Compassion
Florence Nightingale’s pioneering work in healthcare showed compassion in action, improving lives for generations.
House: Parks – Hope
Rosa Parks’ courage in the Montgomery Bus Boycott lit a beacon of hope for justice and equality.
House: Ten Boom – Forgiveness
Corrie ten Boom’s story of forgiveness after unimaginable hardship reminds us of the power of grace and faith.
House: Turing – Self-Discipline
Alan Turing’s determination and focus at Bletchley Park saved millions of lives, showing the impact of discipline and perseverance.
