Subject Overview
Business Studies at Chiltern Hills Academy gives students a practical understanding of how businesses operate in the real world. Through exploring enterprise, marketing, finance and entrepreneurship, students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to understand today’s business environment and the opportunities it creates.
Students investigate real business issues, analyse decision-making processes and apply their learning to local, national and global contexts. The course develops valuable employability skills while encouraging creativity, independence and an enterprising mindset.
In Business Studies, students are supported to:
- Make strong progress within an inclusive learning environment that supports all learners
- Develop an understanding of how businesses operate and contribute to society
- Explore enterprise, entrepreneurship and the skills needed to start and grow a business
- Apply business concepts and theories to real-world situations and current economic issues
- Understand the role of marketing, finance, recruitment and business planning
- Analyse how local, national and global factors influence business decisions
- Develop communication, presentation and pitching skills through practical projects
- Build confidence in independent research, problem-solving and decision-making
- Use specialist business terminology accurately and effectively
- Explore ethical, environmental and social responsibilities within business
- Gain insight into a wide range of careers within business, finance, marketing and management
- Develop employability skills that prepare them for further education, training and the workplace
