History

History at Chiltern Hills Academy helps students understand how the past has shaped the world we live in today. Through the study of people, events and societies across Britain and the wider world, students develop a deeper understanding of change, continuity, conflict and progress over time.

Students are encouraged to ask questions, evaluate evidence and explore different interpretations of historical events, developing the critical thinking skills needed to become informed and thoughtful citizens.


In History, students are supported to:

  • Explore the connections between local, national and international history
  • Gain insight into the diversity of cultures, beliefs and experiences throughout history
  • Debate historical issues and form balanced, evidence-based judgements
  • Use specialist historical vocabulary accurately and confidently
  • Develop strong communication skills through discussion, analysis and extended writing
  • Understand how historical events continue to influence society today
  • Explore careers and opportunities that value research, analysis, communication and critical thinking
