Work Experience

Work Experience

Work placements, work shadowing,  part time work and volunteering are fantastic ways to build skills and try out a certain job or career before choosing your pathway. Work experience will also help you stand out from the crowd when applying for University, Apprenticeships and employment post studies.

We strongly believe that work experience can help prepare you for both adult and working life. It can contribute to your personal, spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. It can also motivate those who may have lost interest in learning by giving them opportunities to make them feel closer to work where they can see the relevance of what they learn.

At Chiltern Hills Academy all students undertake Work Experience for one week in Year 12 and work shadowing for one day in Year 8. Our students have gained work experience in various industries this year such as mechanical engineering, veterinary, healthcare, technology, finance, fashion, film theatre, retail, care homes, charities and many more.

Bucks Skills Hub have made a list of work experience companies who accept work experience students form Year 12 here
